AN INTRODUCTION TO THE SLR CAMERA

Shutter Speeds, Exposure, A-Dep, AV, TV, P, M and Depth of Field - Fast lenses, Slow lenses, F.Stops and Apertures - I bet nobody mentioned any of this when you bought your first SLR kit (which incidentally ought to carry a wealth warning ‘before you consider getting involved with SLR photography be aware of it’s addictive nature!’).

So you take your precious purchase home and sit down to read through the manual and it is at this point that you wonder why you ever left the simple world of the ‘point and shoot’ compact for the demands of the SLR system. As you trawl the pages, you may feel you have stumbled upon a secret society that has developed it's own language and symbols.

Don’t despair, having entered this ‘other world’ and re-emerged poorer but wiser, I shall attempt to help you make sense of it all.
